The Challenge

TheQuickSport, a digital platform for booking sports games such as football, volleyball, and basketball, approached us with the goal of increasing user engagement on their website. They wanted to introduce profile customisation features such as profile backgrounds, frames, achievements and medals, as well as competitive elements like ranks (ELO) and leaderboards. These new features were intended to motivate users, create a sense of progression, and strengthen the community aspect of the platform. Our task was to deliver a solution that balanced function, engagement, and brand coherence.

Leaderboard showing three profiles with crowns. Clark Daniels leads in gold, followed by Angus Heath in silver, and Heath Angus in bronze. Gold being the tallest vertical bar, silver a bit shorter and on the left of the gold bar, and bronze the shortest and on the right of the gold bar. On the right a rectangular element shows a flame with the number 12 inside it and next to it some text reads "Congratulations on your 12th day streak! Consistency builds champions".

The Solution

To begin, we analysed the existing user flows to understand where and how the new features would be introduced without disrupting the user experience. We mapped the user's journey through the platform, identifying the most logical entry points for interactions with ranks, customisation tools, and leaderboards. The goal was to embed these elements in a way that would feel integrated and rewarding, rather than distracting.

We developed wireframes to visualise each new feature, highlighting how profile customisation options (like backgrounds and frames) would appear in both desktop and mobile views, and how achievements and ranks could be progressively revealed as users engaged with the platform. Throughout the design process, we ensured that every element aligned with TheQuickSport's brand identity. The visual language of medals, frames, and ranking badges was crafted to be bold and motivating, yet still in harmony with the platform’s sleek, sports-oriented design.

In the end, we delivered a solution that introduced gamification and personalisation to the platform while respecting the simplicity and focus of TheQuickSport’s core experience. The new features were designed not only to increase user engagement but to build loyalty and foster a stronger sense of identity within the user community.
