The Challenge

After our initial collaboration, NullSpace returned to us at a pivotal moment of transition. As a growing start-up, they had decided to shift their business direction, introducing a set of new features and targeting a slightly different but related user group. While the core concept of sport class management remained, the platform was evolving to accommodate broader use cases and new types of users. To ensure that these changes would be both functional and user-friendly, NullSpace booked a session with us to carry out a second round of design advisory work. The goal was to assess how the new direction would impact the user experience, the platform’s structure, and the overall interface design.

Collaborative UX design workshop with the NullSpace team, featuring user journey mapping and wireframing for a sports class management platform. Participants are seen sketching interface layouts and organizing colorful sticky notes on a table to visualize new features, user flows, and system architecture—part of a strategic design advisory session to support a startup's product pivot.

The Solution

We facilitated a collaborative working session with the NullSpace team, where we reviewed the proposed new features and discussed their implications for the platform’s structure and user flow. This session served as the foundation for a re-evaluation of the user journey. Together, we mapped out how the updated user base would interact with the system, from discovery and onboarding to scheduling and managing classes, highlighting new opportunities and potential friction points.

To better understand the evolving complexity of the platform, we applied a systems engineering approach to break down the website into core functions and identify the interfaces between them. This allowed us to see how individual components, such as user registration, class creation, payment handling, and notification systems, interacted with each other, and where there might be gaps, redundancies, or opportunities for streamlining. Throughout the process, we focused on maintaining clarity in navigation and consistency in visual and textual elements. Recommendations were made to ensure that the new features aligned with the existing design language and contributed to a cohesive user experience. Additionally, we flagged areas where the increasing number of features might overwhelm new users and offered strategies for progressive disclosure and interface prioritisation.

The outcome was a clear set of design recommendations grounded in collaboration, user journey mapping, and systems thinking, giving NullSpace the clarity they needed to confidently move forward with the next phase of their product development.
